Nathan Lee

Nathan Lee is Branch Manager of the Legal and Framework Policy Branch at Safe Work Australia. His responsibilities include policy on the overall WHS framework, the best practice review of the model WHS laws, psychosocial health and safety, workers compensation and Safe Work Australia’s legal team. Nathan joined Safe Work Australia in 2019, and has led national policy work on areas as diverse as fall prevention, crane licensing and improving safety in the healthcare sector. In 2026 he delivered the Best Practice Review of the model WHS laws. Before that, he held a range of other government policy roles at the Attorney‑General’s Department and the Commonwealth Treasury, particularly in national security and foreign investment. Nathan is a former Chinese language teacher, and loves surfing and spearfishing.
