Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous moisture, Or to take arms against them And by opposing end them. To rot – to rust, To rust perchance to scream – ay, there’s the rub.
In hot humid climates venting brings in moisture… In cold climates venting can lead to negative air pressures that lead to building infiltration while drawing humid interior moisture into insulated vented attic spaces leading to rot and decay.
In all climates venting is a wildfire fire risk…vented roofs, attics and walls draw in embers and lead to fire….Fires in densely constructed neighborhoods transfer from building to building via embers…the obsession with venting assemblies needs some building science therapy…
